Sorry about the late response, I was on vacation! I did a little digging and hopefully you found it by now, but the new dimensions are 2120px by 1192px, aspect ratio 16×9.

I will update this blog post later today with a new guide!

However, today when I opened up my google page they have changed the layout- and cropped out parts of my cover image… Could you kindly let me know the new dimension? When I upload a new image google doesn’t really follow what we have chose (still croping a bit of each side…)

Your welcome! Google actually has been pumping all sorts of new features out and not just with Google+. I have noticed a few interesting updates with Google Chrome, Keyword Planner, Analytics and their Webmaster Tools. Looking forward in testing all of these new concepts, during my off days!
